Mutiny: "Mutiny On The Mamaship"

Man, I’d been searchin’ for this FOREVER!  Finally came across a copy in downtown Portland, and I was grinning the whole way home, don’t you know that shit.  This is a P-Funk side project led by drummer Jerome “Bigfoot” Brailey, the man who laid down the signature P-Funk drum sound during the second half of the ‘70’s, most famously on the thundering “Tear The Roof Off The Sucker.”  Although less polished than some of George Clinton’s bigger albums from the same era (Funkadelic’s “Uncle Jam Wants You,” etc.), this is still an incredibly greasy slab of P-Funk, made ironic by the fact that Brailey’s talking shit about Clinton throughout the record, probably due to the well-documented fact that Clinton’s distribution of funds among his organization at that time was haphazard, at best.  Either way, any fan of the Parliafunkadelicment Thang should search this out, as it contains fantastic and deeply funky numbers like “Lump” and “Voyage To The Bottom Of The P.”  Check it.
