Switchin’ it up a little bit with this delicious slice of glam from 1975, featuring the talents of ex-Mott The Hoople frontman Hunter and Bowie axe-shredder alum Mick Ronson. This is a definite classic, easily in the same league as anything ol’ Ziggy Stardust or Marc Bolan’s T-Rex was putting out at the same time, though not nearly as revered or referenced as those more famous counterparts. Mick Ronson contributes significantly to the success of the album, both thematically and musically, while Hunter spins his bizarre, proto-punk, Dylanesque yarns of life, love and rock & roll. Though Hunter’s status has always been that of a cult figure, people really should get hip to this cat, ‘cause he’s the jam, and there ain’t no ‘bout a doubt it. He made several good albums after this, but this is the crown jewel of them all.
